Glenn Beck: Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Glenn Beck
Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

During his March 1, 2001 comedic performance on Fox, Glenn Beck claimed that President Franklin Roosevelt (FDR) said “collective bargaining would destroy us.”

The comic truth as to FDR is:
  1. Signed into law The National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933 that guaranteed collecting bargaining rights for unions
  2. Also in 1933 FDR enacted the Tennessee Valley Authority Act recognizing collective bargaining rights
  3. In 1995 FDR signed the National Labor Relations Act prohibiting employers from barring workers from bargaining collectively
  4. In his 1936 campaign, FDR said: “Of course we will continue every effort … to support collective bargaining
  5. In a 1940 speech at the Chickamauga Dam Celebration in Chattanooga, FDR celebrated the role of collective bargaining played in “The biggest consolidated construction job ever undertaken directly by the National Government
Glenn kinda gives a new meaning to standup comedian if y’all know what I mean.

Congrats to standup comedian Glenn Beck; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing comedic record; you are far too modest.
