Mike Huckabee: Today’s “Joseph Goebbels Truth-Teller” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Mike Huckabee
Today’s “Joseph Goebbels Truth-Teller” Award Winner

FYI: Josef Goebbels was the quintessential truth-teller during his tenure as chief purveyor of propaganda for the Third Reich prior to and during World War II.

In an ongoing effort to put forth his so-called “bona fides” as a viable candidate for the Republican nomination in 2012 to run against Obama, Mikey decided it was time to jump on the “lets get the Unions” bandwagon.

On the Feb 25, 2011, edition of Fox & Friends, Mikey claimed Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s efforts to end collective bargaining power for public sector unions is important because “he’s having to balance the budget.” As evidence, Mikey falsely – I’m sorry I mean truthfully claimed public workers make “30% better wages” and 70% better benefits than their private sector counterparts.”

The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) recently stated in a Feb 10, 2001 study that when “comparisons of education, experience,” and other factors are taken into account, “Wisconsin public employees earn 4.8% less in total compensation per hour than comparable full-time employees in Wisconsin’s private sector.”

The EPI study would clearly indicate that Mike’s claim of “30% better wages” is just a tad off. In fact, according to EPI Mike is off by about 35%. Assuming Mike’s figures are true, then if a private employee earned $50,000 a year, a public employee doing the same basic job would be earning at least $67,500.

Just because Mike’s statements are proven to be demonstrably false doesn’t mean they aren’t true, right? After all, is there really that much difference between the “truth” and a “lie”? `

Congrats Mike; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record; you are far too modest.
