Trump fleeces donors re: purchase of his “Crippled America” book

Donald “Trumporleone” Trump used $55,000 in campaign contribution funds to purchase copies of a book titled “Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again” that he claims to have authored. (Ben Collins, Olivia Nuzz1, The Daily Beast)

According to the Daily Beast story, The Don’s purchase of his book may be in violation of FEC (Federal Election Commission) rules that require a nominee to forgo any royalties on book sales.

The Don’s financial report to the FEC states that the $55,000 in campaign funds was used to purchase 3,964 copies his book at Barnes & Nobles. Below is what it would have cost The Don’s contributors to purchase the book at Amazon.com.

• $13.87 per copy at Barnes & Noble = $54,980.68
• $  0.99 per copy at Amazon.com = $3,924,36
• $12.88 = Savings per copy for donors
• $39,243 = Total savings for The Don’s Donors

It would be complete foolishness for The Don and/or anyone speaking on his behalf to claim they were unaware that this book could have been purchased from Amazon for the costs aforementioned. However, if The Don so acted then he wouldn’t have been able to fleece his donors for a neat little profit of $39,243.

And lastly, if The Don wishes to depict himself as a Humanitarian in the future, he should consider providing each purchaser of his books with a 50% off coupon for their next purchase of Preparation H.
