Attorney Athanasios Basdekis of Charleston, WV; slacker

The state of West Virginia presented Wallace Bock with a law license in 1958 after he graduated from Yale University Law School.

The Appellate Division Disciplinary Panel found Athanasios guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a pattern of neglect involving six client matters
  • Gross neglect resulted in clients losing their claims
  • Failed to zealously represent client within the bounds of the law
  • Failed to respond to discovery order, which led to client’s claim being dismissed
  • Failed to serve client with skill and care generally afforded by other lawyers
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Intentionally failed to seek the lawful objectives of a client through reasonably available means permitted by law and the disciplinary rules
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to make reasonable efforts to expedite client litigation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Appellate Division Disciplinary Panel punished Athanasios by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month term of probation.

As we speak (ca. August 2016), Athanasios practices with Bailey & Glasser LLP at 209 Capitol Street in Charleston, West Virginia.
