Attorney Bernard Cooney of Silver Spring, MD; ethical misfit

The state of Maryland presented Bernard J. Cooney with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from Boston College Law School. Bernie also received a law license from the District of Columbia in 1974 and Massachusetts in 1973.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Bernie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to maintain unearned fees in trust account as required

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme Court punished Bernie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
