Attorney Casey Vanwinkle of Carbondale, IL; slacker

The state of Illinois presented Casey Allen Vanwinkle with a law license in 2003.

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Casey guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to act with due diligence
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to timely file appeal in worker’s compensation case
• Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
• Failed to file appeal led to client’s appeal being dismissed
• Failed to advise client he failed to file appeal on his behalf
• Failed to safeguard client property
• Failed to deposit client funds in identifiable client trust fund
• Failed to promptly deliver funds owing to client

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Casey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
