Attorney Gene Grimes of Waukegan, IL; liar, repeat offender

 

The state of Illinois presented Gene Douglas Grimes with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the University of Illinois Law School.

 

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Gene guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Gene’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to maintain proper account records
  • Mismanaged escrow funds regarding two clients

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Gene by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

 

Gene’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Filed to file divorce petition on client’s behalf
  • Failed to timely file breach of contract claim for client
  • Made misrepresentations (lied) to clients re: status of their cases
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Gene!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Gene by gifting him with a complimentary 45-day suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (April 2016), Gene practices at 221 Washington Street in Waukegan, Illinois.
