U.S. Judge Gonzalo Curiel of San Diego; one of the Good Guys

The state of California presented Gonzalo Paul Curiel with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Indiana University Law School.

Judge Curiel was nominated by President Obama in November 2011 and confirmed by the Senate in October 2012 as a U.S. District Court judge for the Southern District of California in San Diego.

In one matter, Judge Curiel was assigned to preside over a class-action lawsuit against Trump University, which is defunct real estate school owned by Donald “The Don” Trump.

In response to a request from the Washington Post, Judge Curiel recently (late May 2016) ordered that The Don and/or his surrogates release about 1,000 pages of documents dealing the operation of Trump University.

The class-action suit claims that Trump University’s seminars and classes were similar to infomercials and compelled students to purchase more but failed to deliver as promised despite students paying $35,000

In the past, The Don has laughingly claimed that Judge Curiel is a “hater of Donald Trump” and should be ashamed of his handling of the class-action lawsuit. Being a “hater of The Don” merely makes Judge Curiel a member of a growing majority.

The Don’s scam is reminiscent of the “Dare to be Great” motivational program run by Glenn Turner who was sentenced to seven years in prison for bilking people out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Kudos to Judge Curiel for having the courage and fortitude to stand up to The Don, a well-known and highly disrespected Bully.

As we speak (ca. May 2016), Judge Curiel continues to sit as a District Court judge in San Diego, California.
