Former Judge Lisa Powers of Russell, NY; convicted thief

The state of New York presented Lisa Powers with a law license in 1998 after she graduated from Albany University Law School.

The Judicial Commission found Lisa guilty of the following misconduct all of which took place while she was employed as a Clare Town Court judge in Lawrence County.

In one matter, Lisa was recently (early February 2016) convicted on a felony third-degree grand larceny charge. She pled guilty to stealing $4,200 from a pee wee football league while she was the treasurer.

Lisa stole the league’s money by making unauthorized withdrawals from the football league's account between 2007 and 2014 while employed by the North Country Savings Bank.

Knowing she would be removed from her juridical office, Lisa resigned and agreed to never again seek any juridical position in the future.

All that is left is to see what sentence is imposed on Lisa for her felony grand larceny conviction.
