Attorney William Batchelor II of Wilmington, NC; serial offender

 

The state of North Carolina provided Stephen Anthony Turner with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from North Carolina University Law School.

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Billy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to properly fill out division of property report
  • Made no inquiry as to whether party entitled to pension
  • Failed to explain property division settlement to client
  • Separation agreement omitted several of client’s demands
  • Failed to properly prepare in re: to separation matter
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to permit client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Billy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to advise client in writing of basis for legal fees
  • Attempted to coerce client into agreeing to pay higher fee
  • Caused actual harm to be suffered by client

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Billy’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to comply with bankruptcy disclosure requirements
  • Client’s Chapter 13 filing dismissed for failure to comply with agreed to terms
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to obtain bankruptcy court approval to charge client additional fees
  • Bankruptcy court ordered disgorgement of attorney fees
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Sanctioned $5,000 by the bankruptcy court

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

 

Billy’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to identify source and name of client funds
  • Billed client’s for costs irrespective of the amount he actually incurred
  • Failed to conduct monthly reconciliations of trust accounts
  • Collected a clearly excessive amount for costs (crook)
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

As we speak (ca. February 2016) Billy practices at 107 Castle Street in Wilmington, North Carolina.
