Judge Scott DiClaudio of Philadelphia; ethical Ogre, repeat offender

The state of Pennsylvania presented Lisa Reo Jenkins with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Widener University Law School.

In November 2015, Scotty succeeded in duping the voters in Philadelphia into electing as a Court of Common Pleas judge despite the fact that the Philadelphia Bar Association recommended that he was not qualified.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Judge DiClaudio guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with court order directing him to file a concise statement of matters complained of regarding the filing of client’s appeal
  • Failed to prepare/file appellate docketing statement on client’s behalf
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Court dismissed client’s appeal due to failure to comply with court orders
  • Failed to advise client appeal dismissed because of his misconduct
  • Failed to obtain court-appointed attorney for his indigent client
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to protect client’s appellate rights
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Conduct caused waste of judicial resources
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client interests

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Scotty’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received two (2) complimentary admonishments and one (1) stayed 3-month suspension of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct, some of which mirrors the aforementioned misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Scotty by gifting him with a complimentary censure. Said misconduct can be viewed by visiting the URL listed at the end of this article.

Why in the world did the Democratic Party in Philadelphia support Scotty’s election as a Common Pleas Judge when they knew for a fact of his sordid disciplinary record?

For Scotty it was a definite coup since he will now earn $176,000 a year plus Cadillac style benefits during his 10-year term in office. This is obviously the best paying job Scotty has ever had or ever hoped to have.

As we speak (ca. January 2016), Scotty sits as a Common Please Court judge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
