Judge Robert Kelly of Westhampton Beach, NY; ethical elf

The state of New York provided Robert Augustin Kelly with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Fordham University Law School.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Bobby guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as a Judge of the Westhampton Beach Village Court.

  • Engaged in conflicts of interest
  • Represented private clients in matters that  came before the Westhampton Beach Building and Zoning Department, an  agency in his court’s jurisdiction
  • Allowed his name to appear on legal papers filed by his law firm against Westhampton Beach while he was on the bench
  • Failed to prevent his law firm from making political contributions
  • Displayed inattention to his judicial responsibilities
  • Failed to abide by special ethical considerations imposed upon judges who are permitted to practice law

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Bobby by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. February 2016, Bobby continues to sit as a Judge of the Westhampton Beach Village Court. In addition, Bobby practices law with Kelly & Hulme PC at 323 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach, New York.
