Attorney Peggy Bond of Eugene; ethical dwarf

The state of Oregon provided Peggy A. Bond with a law license in 1990 after she graduated from Western State University Law School.

The Oregon Disciplinary Board found Peggy guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter,Peggy undertook to represent Pamela Soine and her husband in a stepparent adoption of Pamela’s child from a prior relationship. During a subsequent meeting with Peggy, Pamela and her husband expressed certain concerns about the adoption process and no further action was undertaken by Peggy to process the adoption.

Several months later, Peggy learned from the husband that Pamela and the husband had separated and that Pamela was denying the husband access to the child. Peggy then undertook to represent the husband to obtain visitation with Pamela’s child by addressing the matter in a letter to Pamela.

Peggy failed to first obtain Pamela’s consent to the representation of the husband after full disclosure. Peggy’s representation of the husband in the visitation matter was significantly related to her representation of Pamela in the step-parent adoption in that both matters involved the husband’s rights with respect to Pamela’s child.

Peggy stipulated to the fact that she engaged in the conduct aforementioned and in so acting that she violated the Disciplinary Rules involving former client conflict of interest. 

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Peggy by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
