Attorney Laural Hemenway of Nashville; ethical gremlin

The state of Tennessee presented Laural Ann Axson Hemenway with a law license in 1998 after she graduated from the Nashville Law School.

The Board of Professional Responsibility found Laural guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was employed as an Assistant District Attorney.

  • Engaged in conduct intended to disrupt a tribunal
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Improperly attacked the integrity of judicial officials

In open court Laural made the following laughable and inappropriate statements.

  • “I feel this is a hostile environment for a female.”
  • “This entire court proceeding has been a violation of my Constitutional Rights as a woman to be treated fairly.”
  • “My rights have not been protected.”
  • “And it’s a hostile working environment when you are forced into that situation, and you don’t have recourse.”
  • “I have spoken with other people who have observed the Court today who have said . . . that there is a lot of discriminatory things that have been done and said in the courtroom.”

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Laural by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2016), Laural practices at 212b McGavock Place in Nashville, Tennessee.
