Attorney Thomas Hicks of Wilmington, NC; ethical leprechaun

The state of North Carolina provided Thomas S. Hicks with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar has charged Tommy with engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to obtain signed consent from client or others re: membership in entity
  • Engaged in conflict of interest
  • Failed to maintain complete client ledgers
  • Failed to advise clients to see independent advice re: conflict of interest
  • Failed to maintain and hold entrusted funds
  • Failed to promptly deposit fiduciary funds into fiduciary account
  • Improperly provided financial assistance to client
  • Intentionally commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Committed criminal act reflecting on his honesty and fitness to practice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to disburse funds pursuant to client directives
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Tommy!)
  • Failed to adequately communicate with clients
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to provide client with accounting of trust account funds

All that’s left now is to see what if any punishment the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court mete out to Tommy.

As we speak (ca. November 2015) Tommy practices with the Hicks Law Firm PLLC at 206 North Fourth Street in Wilmington, North Carolina.
