Attorney Christopher Bulger of Boston; ethical goblin

The state of Massachusetts presented Christopher J. Bulger with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from Boston University Law School.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Chris guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Chris found it acceptable to leak information to his former boss, former Probation Commissioner John O’Brien while O’Brien was under investigation. Chris leaked the information at a time that he knew O’Brien was being investigated for politically motivated hiring within the probation department.

Chris spoke repeatedly with O’Brien and in those conversations he passed along information to O’Brien concerning the ongoing investigation. The information included the name or names of persons called to testify before an independent counsel investigating the probation department and what they had been asked.

In his defense, Chris laughingly claimed he had made a mistake in arguing for a lesser penalty. Clearly, Chris missed his calling as a Standup Comedian. The Board stated that Chris’ failure to recognize that O’Brien was no longer his client “borders on willful blindness.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Chris by gifting him with another complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2015) Chris practices with Boyle Shaughnessy & Campo PC at 695 Atlantic Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts.
