Attorney Joseph Valez of Scottsdale; ethical gremlin

The state of Arizona provided Joseph A. Valez with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Arizona State University Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Conduct led to negligent conversion of client funds
  • Wrote check on insufficient fund account (rubber)
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to maintain complete trust account records
  • Failed to record all transactions promptly and completely
  • Failed to properly safeguard client funds
  • Failed to perform monthly reconciliations of trust account
  • Failed to advise City Council of Coolidge that associate was suspended attorney
  • Improper contact with represented party
  • Failed to advise court of his reduced rate on fee agreement

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2015), Joey practices at 727 East Indian School Road in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Caution: Joey does not carry legal malpractice insurance
