Judge Daniel Sullivan of Whitestown, NY; ethical leprechaun

In one matter, Danny was contacted by Whitestown police officer Frank McCully on July 13, 2013 shortly after 9:00 pm. The officer asked Danny to come to the Gibson Road Town Park.

When Danny arrived at the park, his son was handcuffed and sitting in the back of a police car in an area next to the park restrooms.

Officer McCully led Danny to the women’s restroom where he had earlier found his son Joseph Sullivan with two small kittens. One of the kittens had been hog-tied with tape, and there was a lighter nearby.

McCully told Danny that his son would be charged at a later time and would be allowed to go home with Danny. At the same time Danny was given custody of the kittens to return them to the location where his son had obtained them.

The next morning, Danny called Whitestown Chief of Police Donald Wolanin to discuss the incident involving his son. Danny told the Chief that he hoped that the police would not “go piling on” or “overcharge” his son or words of similar import.

On July 22, 2013, Officer McCully told Danny to bring his son to the police station so he could be issued an appearance ticket for animal cruelty and being in the park after hours. Danny replied, “Do you really have to arrest him?” Danny went on tell McCully that if his son was arrested it would ruin his changes of getting a job with the Oneida County sheriff.

In a lame effort at levity, Danny told Officer McCully that because the kittens were not actually injured, a charge of cruelty to animals did not apply.

Subsequently, Danny’s son was criminally charged with cruelty to animals and later pled guilty to carrying an animal in a cruel manner.

As a consequence of his misconduct in attempting to coerce police officers to go easy on his son, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Danny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

And lastly, Danny’s arrogance has no bounds given the fact that even after his son is charged with cruelty to animals, he actually believes he deserves to become an Oneida County sheriff.

As we speak (ca. August 2015), Danny continues to sit as a judge on the Whitestown Justice Court in Whitestown, New York.
