Attorney Martin Berks of Birmingham, AL; ethical gremlin

The state of Alabama presented Martin Kassab Berks with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Marty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to pay settlement funds to client in timely manner
  • Failed to communicate with clients re: their settlements
  • Failed to provide clients with written statement of accounting for amounts of money received on the clients’ behalf
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Alabama Supreme Court punished Marty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Marty practices at 4000 Eagle Point Corporate Drive in Birmingham, Alabama.
