Judge Kathleen Robichaud of Rensselaer, NY; slacker

The state of Texas presented Kathleen Leahy Robichaud with a law license in 1990 after she graduated from the Albany Law School.

The New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Kathy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Delayed rendering judgments in 10 cases for up to 23 months
  • Dereliction of judicial duties
  • Delayed rendering decisions on motions in 12 cases for up to 20 months
  • Failed to report delays as required to administrative judge
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Filed inaccurate (false) reports to administrative judge

Kathy was well aware that New York law required her to render judgments on cases within 30 days of having the matter presented to her.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Kathy by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Kathy continues to sit as judge on the Rensselaer City Court in Rensselaer, New York.
