The state of Colorado provided Gilbert O. Montoya Jr. with a law license in 1977.

The Colorado State Bar found Gilbert guilty of the following misconduct.

• Negligently failed to terminate attorney-client relationship after learning his wife was involved in business transaction with his client
• Effectively entered into business transaction with client without making appropriate disclosures to the client
• Failed to make reasonable efforts to ensure wife’s conduct was compatible with his professional obligations

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Gilbert by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Gilbert practices with Gilbert O. Montoya Jr. PC at 8753 Yates Drive in Westminster, Colorado.
