Attorney Gilberto Perez of Rochester, NY; convicted thief

The state of New York presented Gilberto Ricardo Perez with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the University of Indiana Law School.

The Committee on Professional Standards found Gil guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Gil pled guilty in Rochester City Court of offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree. Gil’s plea was in satisfaction of a felony complaint alleging that during a three-year period of time, he submitted to the New York State Unified Court System Attorneys for Children Program and the Monroe County Assigned Counsel Program several payment claim vouchers that contained false statements or false information.

As part of his criminal plea agreement, Gil was required to reimburse the State of New York and/or Monroe County to the tune of $28,335.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Standards Committee punished Gil by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2015), Gil practices at 30 West Broad Street in Rochester, New York.
