Attorney Montgomery Cobb of Portland, OR; tax scofflaw

The state of Oregon provided Montgomery W. Cobb with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Northwestern University Law School.

The Oregon State Bar found Monty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Withheld taxes from employees but failed to pay funds to Oregon Department of Revenue (ODR)
  • Former firm of Cobb & Bosse owed ODR $32,342 in employee taxes
  • Cobb personally owed $6,902 after Cobb & Bosse firm dissolved
  • Failed to pay state and federal taxes withheld from employee checks for at least three years
  • Engaged in criminal conduct by failing to pay withholding taxes
  • Acted knowingly and willingly in failure to pay withholding taxes
  • Acted with a selfish motive
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Monty by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. May 2015) Monty practices with Montgomery W. Cobb LLC at 1001 SW Fifth Avenue in Portland, Oregon.
