Attorney Brent Winters of Casey, IL; convicted tax cheat

The state of Illinois presented Brent Allan Winters with a law license in 1997.

The Disciplinary Commission found Brent guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, while running for a seat in the United States House of Representatives, he loaned his own election campaign fund $36,616.50 and, after he was defeated, transferred the debt to a company for $2,500 in order to falsely claim a loss on his 1998 federal income tax return.

Subsequently, Brent was found guilty by a federal jury of filing a false tax return.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Brent by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2015), Brent practices in Casey, Illinois.

Warning: Brent does not carry legal malpractice insurance
