Rev. Rick Scarborough: Today’s “Bigot” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Rev. Rick Scarborough

Today’s “Bigot” Award Winner

During a recent (04/24/15) anti-gay press conference at the National Press Club, Rev. Rick along with fellow bigoted homophobes, James Dobson of Focus on the Wallet and Mat Staver pledged to refuse to accept any Supreme Court ruling that legalizes gay marriage. (Kyle Mantyla)

During his bigoted rant, Rev. Rick stated that marriage equality is an attack on God. He then lied by saying that the majority of Americans who support gay marriage once supported segregation. The “vast majority” that Ricky speaks of are mostly from the Old South. In fact, a good number of Southern Baptist ministers not only supported segregation but they were also members of the KKK.

Since Rev. Ricky is a Southern Baptist minister from Texas, one can understand his hatred of minority groups. Ricky then told the assembled bigots:

  • “Marriage can no more include same-sex couples than a rock can fall up.”
  • “The Supreme Court can no more redefine marriage than it can redefine gravity.”
  • “Today I declare before Heaven, I will no deny God, nor His word to curry any man's favor. With great caution should anyone indulge the notion that one can change what God has said.”
  • “To deny the created order is to attack God’s very nature.”

It’s painfully clear that Rev. Rick and those of his ilk have pocketed untold millions by attacking members of the gay community. The most deplorable aspect of their bigotry is the fact that the contributions they receive are tax deductable as are the sham organizations they operate. Put simply, the victims of their despicable bigotry are made to pay additionally taxes to make up for what they and their followers are not paying.

One must seriously wonder why Ricky expends so much energy in his spewing forth hatred towards members of the gay community. Maybe we need to ask Ricky  the following question:

“What’s in your closet, Ricky?”

Congrats Ricky; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Homophobes”; you are far too humble.
