Attorney Houston Patton of Jackson, MS; ethical gremlin

The state of Mississippi presented Houston Patton with a law license in 1973 after she graduated from SouthernUniversity of Law School.

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance found Houston guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in improper ex parte (one-sided) communications
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Misconduct was willful in nature
  • Brought judicial office into disrepute
  • Knowingly abused his contempt power
  • Held hearings with providing notice to parties
  • Illegally incarcerated defendants
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Deprived defendants of their due process rights

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Houston by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension from the bench.

As we speak (ca. April 2015), Houston practices at 407 East Pascagoula Street in Jackson, Mississippi.
