Attorney Arthur Cooke of Greensboro, NC; ethical misfit

The state of North Carolina presented Arthur Wayland Cooke with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Art guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of trust account
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failure to supervise assistant led to misappropriation (theft) of trust funds

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Art by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Art.

As we speak (ca. March 2015) Art practices in the Greensboro, North Carolina area.
