Attorney Scott Giese of Old Orchard Beach, ME; ethical gremlin 

 

The state of Maine presented Scott David Giese with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from Florida Coastal University Law School.  

 

The Maine Board of Overseers of the found Scotty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to properly communicate with clients
  • Misconduct involved multiple violations
  • Violations of code of conduct serious and troubling
  • Neglected client legal matters
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Intentionally abandoned client’s appeal
  • Failed to obtain client’s approval to not file brief with Law Court
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Scotty!)
  • Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or do so through the acts of another
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court punished Scotty by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. March 2015) Scotty practices at 46B Adelaide Extension in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
